Five characters is a full party: enough for dungeons with no one else. It is also where your PC, your screen and your hands become the limit. Start here only after a duo or trio feels easy.
Squad ideas
WoWBoxer tips, not official advice.
| Leader | Followers | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Paladin | Priest, Warlock, Mage, Hunter | Self-sufficient tank, one healer, three ranged. Few followers in melee range. |
| Warrior | Priest, Shaman, Mage, Warlock | Strong dungeon party. The Warrior needs attention. |
| Shaman | Shaman × 4 | Totems stack across the party. A long-time favourite of experienced boxers. |
| Druid | Druid, Priest, Mage, Hunter | Flexible: swap roles as you need. |
Ranged followers are easier than melee: they don't need to stand behind the target.
Layout
One monitor: the leader takes the top or left two thirds, four followers in a row or a 2 × 2 block. In the window app: 5 clients, Main + side or Grid.
Two monitors: the leader fills monitor 1, the followers share monitor 2. In the window app: 2 monitors.
Small follower windows almost always need a lower UI Scale for the whole action bar. The window app's Auto-fit action bar (on by default) sets it; then check every dot.
Keep the loop fast
- Same key, same job on every character. Your hand learns one layout.
- Lower graphics settings. Five clients use a lot of memory and graphics power. All clients from one install share their settings, so pick values your PC can run five times. Raise the background frame-rate limit only as far as your PC allows.
- Followers in the corner of your eye. Watch the leader's health bar and the healer's mana, not every window.
- Party of five, then raid. A party holds five. For six or more, convert to a raid and use
focusfor the leader on every follower: in a raid,party1–party4only mean your own subgroup.
PC requirements
There is no official number. As a rough guide from our own tests, three Classic Era clients run fine on a modern gaming PC at low follower settings. Five Forever clients will need more memory. We will add real numbers after launch week.
Classic Era notes
Same ideas. Talent trees and some spells differ. The Companion's data is made for Forever.
