Classes for boxing

How each of World of Warcraft: Forever's nine classes fits a multibox squad: as leader, as follower, and what makes it easy or hard to box.

All nine classes can box. Some are easier as a leader, some as a follower. These notes are WoWBoxer tips, not official class descriptions. The Companion and the add-on build the keys for your level.

Class Roles As leader As follower Boxing difficulty
Warrior Tank, damage Holds threat; needs a healer Melee, assists into the fight Medium
Paladin Tank, healer, damage Tanks and heals itself; buffs the party Heals or hits the leader's target Easy
Hunter Damage Pet tanks, hunter shoots Pet joins the leader's target; shoots from range Easy
Rogue Damage Strong, but stealth play takes attention Needs to stand behind the target Hard
Priest Healer, damage Possible, but fragile The classic squad healer Easy
Shaman Healer, damage Flexible Totems buff the whole party; heals or casts Medium
Mage Damage Fragile Ranged burst and area damage; food and water for everyone Easy
Warlock Damage Pet can tank Damage over time and a pet; great with sequence keys Easy
Druid Tank, healer, damage Fills any gap Heals or deals damage; Mark of the Wild for everyone Medium

What makes a class easy to box

  • Ranged. No need to stand behind the target.
  • A pet. One more body in the fight, controlled with one key.
  • Self-healing. The leader survives while you are in another window.
  • Few cooldowns to track. One or two keys do most of the work.

What makes it harder

  • Melee positioning. Followers on /follow stand behind the leader, not behind the monster.
  • Stances and forms. Warriors, Druids and Rogues change action-bar pages. The add-on puts their keys on the Bottom Left and Bottom Right bars for this reason.
  • Crowd control. Spells that break on damage need care: a follower's next attack can break them.
