Leader or follower?

As the leader (on the big window): Pet tanks, hunter shoots.

As a follower: Pet joins the leader's target; shoots from range.

The leader is the character you play “for real”: it pulls and picks targets. Followers assist it and follow it. The WoWBoxer AddOn builds the right keys for a Hunter in either role, for your level.

Best duo partners for a Hunter

Our own ratings of every pair with a Hunter, best first. S plays itself; D wants your attention on both windows at once. How we rate pairs.

The pet tanks, the hunter shoots, and the paladin heals and blesses both of them with very few buttons.

The Hunter leads. The hunter needs more buttons and positioning, so it gets the big window; the paladin follows and works from the small one.
