Leader or follower?

As the leader (on the big window): Pet can tank.

As a follower: Damage over time and a pet; great with sequence keys.

The leader is the character you play “for real”: it pulls and picks targets. Followers assist it and follow it. The WoWBoxer AddOn builds the right keys for a Warlock in either role, for your level.

Best duo partners for a Warlock

Our own ratings of every pair with a Warlock, best first. S plays itself; D wants your attention on both windows at once. How we rate pairs.

  • Tier S: Warlock + Paladin

The Voidwalker tanks, the warlock dots and Life Taps, and the paladin heals and blesses. Very relaxed.

The Paladin leads. The paladin needs more buttons and positioning, so it gets the big window; the warlock follows and works from the small one.

  • Tier S: Warlock + Hunter

Two pets, two ranged characters: almost a four-person group. Healthstones and a Soulstone are your safety net.

The Hunter leads. The hunter needs more buttons and positioning, so it gets the big window; the warlock follows and works from the small one.

  • Tier S: Warlock + Priest

Our top pick: the Voidwalker tanks, the warlock dots and wands, the priest heals and the warlock Life Taps into the heals.

The Warlock leads. Both are light on buttons; the warlock leads because it holds the mobs, and the priest follows and heals.

  • Tier S: Warlock + Shaman

The Voidwalker tanks, the shaman heals and drops totems, and the warlock's dots do the rest.

The Shaman leads. The shaman needs more buttons and positioning, so it gets the big window; the warlock follows and works from the small one.

  • Tier S: Warlock + Warlock

Two warlocks: two pets, dots on everything and a Soulstone each. Very relaxed.

Either can lead. Same class: put the one you play best on the big window; the other follows with /follow and /assist.

  • Tier S: Warlock + Druid

The Voidwalker or the bear tanks, the druid heals, the warlock dots: a full group for two.

The Druid leads. The druid needs more buttons and positioning, so it gets the big window; the warlock follows and works from the small one.

  • Tier A: Warlock + Mage

The Voidwalker holds the mobs while the mage blasts them; nobody heals, but Healthstones and a Soulstone help.

The Mage leads. The mage needs more buttons and positioning, so it gets the big window; the warlock follows and works from the small one.

  • Tier B: Warlock + Warrior

Warrior and Voidwalker both hold the mobs, but only Healthstones and Drain Life keep anyone alive.

The Warrior leads. The warrior needs more buttons and positioning, so it gets the big window; the warlock follows and works from the small one.

  • Tier B: Warlock + Rogue

The Voidwalker tanks while the rogue works from behind; Healthstones and a Soulstone cover the lack of a healer.

The Rogue leads. The rogue always leads: it has to stand behind the target and open from stealth. The warlock follows and assists.
