Leader or follower?

As the leader (on the big window): Tanks and heals itself; buffs the party.

As a follower: Heals or hits the leader's target.

The leader is the character you play “for real”: it pulls and picks targets. Followers assist it and follow it. The WoWBoxer AddOn builds the right keys for a Paladin in either role, for your level.

Best duo partners for a Paladin

Our own ratings of every pair with a Paladin, best first. S plays itself; D wants your attention on both windows at once. How we rate pairs.

  • Tier S: Paladin + Hunter

The pet tanks, the hunter shoots, and the paladin heals and blesses both of them with very few buttons.

The Hunter leads. The hunter needs more buttons and positioning, so it gets the big window; the paladin follows and works from the small one.

  • Tier S: Paladin + Priest

Nearly unkillable: the paladin holds the mobs, the priest heals and shields. Safe, but slower than a pet pair.

The Paladin leads. The paladin needs more buttons and positioning, so it gets the big window; the priest follows and works from the small one.

  • Tier S: Paladin + Warlock

The Voidwalker tanks, the warlock dots and Life Taps, and the paladin heals and blesses. Very relaxed.

The Paladin leads. The paladin needs more buttons and positioning, so it gets the big window; the warlock follows and works from the small one.

  • Tier A: Paladin + Shaman

Plenty of healing and a rez on both sides; the paladin holds the mobs and Windfury makes it hit harder.

The Shaman leads. The shaman needs more buttons and positioning, so it gets the big window; the paladin follows and works from the small one.

  • Tier A: Paladin + Mage

The paladin gathers the mobs and keeps them busy while the mage blasts them; free water keeps both going.

The Mage leads. The mage needs more buttons and positioning, so it gets the big window; the paladin follows and works from the small one.

  • Tier A: Paladin + Druid

Two hybrids that can tank and heal each other, but the druid's form-switching takes attention.

The Druid leads. The druid needs more buttons and positioning, so it gets the big window; the paladin follows and works from the small one.

  • Tier B: Paladin + Warrior

The warrior tanks and the paladin heals and buffs it, but you'll be busy with the warrior and both want plate with Strength.

The Warrior leads. The warrior needs more buttons and positioning, so it gets the big window; the paladin follows and works from the small one.

  • Tier B: Paladin + Paladin

Two paladins are almost impossible to kill, but they kill slowly and want the same gear.

Either can lead. Same class: put the one you play best on the big window; the other follows with /follow and /assist.

  • Tier B: Paladin + Rogue

The paladin can hold the mobs and heal, but the rogue needs all your attention behind the target.

The Rogue leads. The rogue always leads: it has to stand behind the target and open from stealth. The paladin follows and assists.
